Director General Tran Dinh Luan and Mr. Isidro M. Velayo Jr. discussed numerous significant issues in the fisheries industry that were important to the two countries during the meeting. The Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation in the Field of Fisheries between Vietnam and the Philippines signed on June 28, 2010, was specifically reviewed and evaluated by the two sides.

Additionally, the Director General suggested the following guidelines for future cooperation between the two nations:

In order to resolve concerns pertaining to the fishing industry, Director General Tran Dinh Luan suggested facilitating the processes for extending the Hotline Agreement between Vietnam and the Philippines.

Promote cooperation initiatives in the two parties' respective domains and quickly reorganize the Joint Working Group on Fisheries in 2023.

The Philippines is asked to stay in touch, quickly notify, and improve the exchange of information on fishing operations at sea through the hotline on illegal, undeclared, and uncontrolled fishing activities and other fishing situations between the two nations.

In particular, the two parties must increase their cooperation while carrying out projects under the framework of the WCPFC and strengthen support for Vietnam to become an official member of the WCPFC.

Mr. Isidro M. Velayo Jr. expressed his gratitude to Vietnam for hosting the WCPFC19 Conference and for conducting a bilateral meeting to further the fisheries sectors of the two nations. Mr. Isidro M. Velayo Jr. hoped that the two sides would keep communicating and exchanging experiences in the seafood industry, a field where they both had advantages. The Philippines' side is particularly interested in learning from Vietnam's experiences in the aquaculture industry.

Mr. Isidro M. Velayo Jr. accepted Vietnam's suggestion that the two nations meet annually to exchange ideas and work together in the seafood industry.
